Overview

Casa de la Paloma

We’re not only ON the beach, we are a PART of it!

4 king bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms, sleeps 8 comfortably

Our villa, Casa de la Paloma, is towards the north end of Santiago Bay and Playa Miramar, a three mile long beach, perfect for long walks and jogging.

This villa has been co-owned by by a close-knit group of families from Mexico and the US for more than 35 years. One US owner acts as the rental representative for the group.  One of the Mexican owners acts as the property manager. The connection started in 1982 when 14 year-old Cacho did a homestay in the US and lifelong friendships ensued. The rest is history.

You will be dealing directly with the owners, rather than through a middleman agent.  You may contact either one of the US or Mexican owners directly, if there is ever any problem.

This private ocean-front villa features 4 large King bedrooms, each with its own private bath and it’s own individual air conditioner.

We have a full kitchen, formal dining room and an air conditioned TV and Recreation room. The TV and Recreation room has a game table, six chairs, large sofa and TV with Satellite Connection, DVD, and a DVD library of over 200 movies. You can see and hear the ocean surf from each room. Casa de la Paloma is great for couples or families.  Our WiFi is fast enough for streaming movies. We also allow outgoing calls to US and Canada for up to 60 minutes per week at no additional charge.

In order to book, we ask you sign a one page rental agreement, like a Memo of Understanding.  No rental is final until this one page agreement is approved by both the renter and an owner representative.

Awesome vacation in Manzanillo!

★★★★★
We are four couples from Seattle who spent 10 days here in April of 2008. The facility is exactly as described and we were all thrilled with it. We had daily maid service and even had several authentic Mexican meals prepared for us in the villa. It is right on the beach which is totally sandy and perfect for playing/swimming in the surf. It was very private and everything was just first-rate. A few of us were returning to Mexico again last October and wanted to stay at this villa again with some family members, but it was unfortunately already booked. It would be great for families, couples or singles as each bedroom has its own private bathroom and A/C. The pool was fabulous!

We have stayed at Casa De Paloma for the last two years and we absolutley love it. We have stayed at several houses in Club Santiago over the years, all very nice, but this one has become our favorite. The house is beautiful, right on the beach with a great palapa in the backyard for a nice meal overlooking the ocean. It has a nice little dipping pool in the backyard, overlooking the ocean, for cooling off and relaxing. The kitchen was completely renovated last year and looks great. The house has telephone service so you can call taxi's (which are very reasonable) if you don't feel like renting a car for getting around. Jolea the lady who cleans the house is great. She babysat our kids one night so that my girlfriend and I could go out celebrate my birthday. There are tons of fantastic restaurants in the area to eat at. Jess, one of the owners has put together a great packet of things to do and places to go and a ton of useful information for all newcomers to the area. This place truly feels like home while you are there. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Casa de la Paloma-Excellent

★★★★★
We were guests of Casa de la Paloma during early December 2008. We had four generations of us staying for a family holiday. Everything that was described to us and assured to us was met. Mr. Watkins was very quick to answer our questions with an honest opinion. Those opinions were accurate. We included the house keeper for a couple of meals, visited with the pool people, and talked with the grounds keeper. They were all very friendly and went beyound expectations for a reasonable helpfullness. The beach is the best on the Pacific side of Mexico. Our two year old grandchild enjoyed playing in the surf and sand. He played with the Mexican children on the beach while we shared common life experiences with the parents. It was friendly and great. Use the people for tours that Jess recommends. There is no snorkeling on the beach just out side the property but a ten minute walk north leads you to great opportunities. If you are a diver all of the boat or shore dives originate in that ten minute walk. I am a master scuba diver and the wreck is not to be missed. The snorkel crowd (my wife) only experience the top portion of the wreck but 100 feet down there is a world to be explored. Please be certified for wreck penetration and you will be surprised. If you want to go fishing do not use the recommended parties. They try hard but they are not the best. I fish all over (thats a good enough description), Go to downtown Manzanillo by the big fish. Ask for Captian Jose on the Banna boat. It is a ponga that is a little rough, has shade, and has and outstanding fisherman. In previous trips we have caught up to 100 fish a day with the best being 23 dorado. This is not normal but Jose always gets into the fish. I took the recommended fisherman with my father-in-law and my son-in-law and we caught nada. No take downs no nothing. In six trips with Jose this never happened. We rented a car (expensive insurance) and were able to travel around the county side. The stop at El Salto was the best. There are many places to explore by car if you desire. The major stores are 15 minutes away if you choose. The local stores have most everything if you desire. I am called the Italian Housewife (hey, I'm a guy) an thus I love going to the markets, both superstores and local. Do the local markets (I forgot the name) for true Mexican culture. The flea market operates on the week-end and it is very good. There are good values in the artasian market.

Christmas in Paradise

★★★★★
Thanks so much for a wonderful place to spend Christmas! The 8 of us could not have found a more perfect house - we were so comfortable, had lots of space, and loved feeling so at home for Christmas. We also liked that we could find all we needed so close to here - we didn't stray far from the house! Good snorkeling, swimming in the pool and the ocean, Several water hand-stand competitions were all we needed. We leave tomorrow and have heard it is snowing in Oregon. BOOOOO! We will miss this awesome weather but will have lots of nice memories until the next time we can get away. Hope this suntan lasts! And we all hope to return to this beautiful spot. Many thanks for the perfect Christmas vacation! Nora,Jeff, Wesley, Lea, Jenny, Jed, Robert and John, PDX,OR

Perfect for our family!

★★★★★
This villa was perfect for our family of 6 (including 4 kids under the age of 9) and a set of grandparents. It is very well equipped and has every modern convenience that we were accustomed to at home (we loved the wireless internet). We rented a car for a few days to explore the area and to get groceries in downtown Manzanillo. The beach in front of the villa is the best in the area with "sugar" sand perfect for building sand castles and waves gentle enough for the 8 and 6 year olds to boogie board. All of the adults enjoyed long walks and running every morning on the beach. We also really enjoyed all of the beach and pool toys provided by the owners. At only 3 feet at its deepest, the pool is great for young children and having the beach at the property's edge is so convenient. Having Joli cook an authentic meal for us was a highlight (and we had enough leftovers for another full meal). The pictures don't do the view justice. Opening the glass doors to the outside made us feel like we brought the pool and beach even that much closer to us. It was amazing - especially seeing the sunrise! The only unexpected part of the house was that you access the bedrooms from the exterior of the home. We did some re-arranging of the beds so that we could all sleep at one end of the house together. Overall this was not a problem. We also greatly appreciated that Jess had a small baby crib for our 1 year old and went out and purchased a high chair for him prior to our arrival. It was so thoughtful!! We would definitely stay here again.

Fabulous Location and Accommodations!

★★★★★
We stayed at Casa De La Paloma with our 3 boys, another couple and their 2 girls for about 10 days. The house is set up beautifully for two families. We had plenty of room for all of us to be together as well as plenty of room for privacy. The pool was clean and warm enough for day or night swimming. The beach is fantastic, incredibly safe for kids...swimming, snorkeling, kayaking etc. We were able to walk to restaurants and shops...we also hired a driver with a suburban, which the owners will help you arrange. We highly recommend this. We saw more and learn more about Manzanillo because of our fantastic driver, Arturo. We highly recommend a trip to the turtle sanctuary in Cayutlan. The owners of the house made sure we had everything we needed and then some. The pictures don't do this house justice. We can't wait to go back!

Great property, great experience

★★★★★
Our family group of 7 included three generations. We found the accommodations perfect for our needs and the house matched the high expectations we had. We knew Manzanillo well and wanted to be in Club Santiago on the beach. Could not have asked for a better location! The house opens to the beach and the indoors / outdoors experience is great Beds were good, bathrooms were clean, pool was the right size. The art and decor is very tasteful, not overdone and very pleasant. The housekeeper, Yoly, was most welcoming and took care of our needs with a smile. We asked her to cook a couple of times (at an additional charge as agreed) and were delighted with the Mexican food she prepared for us. Looking forward to coming back!

★★★★★
Our stay at Casa de la Paloma was wonderful. The listing description was accurate but the photo does not do justice to this beautiful villa on the beach. The property was clean and well-maintained. Just prior to our arrival we received an informational packet that provided us will everything we needed to know. The owner called us twice to make sure all was as expected. We highly recommend using the cook referred to us by the owners, her cooking was outstanding. We at out our first night, but after having our meals prepared on site, we decided not to eat out again. If you have kids, it's great to have the convenience of both a private pool and public beach where you can keep an eye on the kids.

Casa de la Paloma

★★★★★
This property was awesome, pictures did not do it justice. There was lots of room for 6 adults, bedrooms were accessible from outside the main living quarters but were very comfortable. It was great to here the sound of the waves hitting the beach. The beach was very nice for walking and safe. The villa was close to restaurants and shopping. Went on a couple of tours (bay area and Colima, Comala and El Salto and some of us went golfing to Los Hadas. The housekeeper came everyday and cleaned, unfortunately due to a language barrier (no one in our group spoke spanish) we could not have her make us a meal). This area is great for families and relaxation. A couple of weeks before we got here, the owners sent us a guide about the property which was very useful and the owners called us twice during our stay to ensure that everything was satisfactory. The only thing that was a little negative is the patio doors trying to close them when we retired for bed. It was so great to be able to go from the property start to the beach and the ocean. I am looking forward to returning to this property again next year.

For the adults in the family

★★★★★
My sisters and I spent a wonderful week at Casa de la Paloma. The property was as lovely as the pictures and description suggest. Everything we needed was provided and worked as it should. Being right on the beach was a real treat. We people-watched and swam several times a day. If you're adventurous, you can get anywhere you need to go in Manzanillo by bus. The locals are very friendly and always helpful. The owner answered all of of questions and even called during our stay to see how we were doing. Highly recommended.

Outstanding!

★★★★★
This is our second visit to Casa de la Paloma and we wouldn't hesitate to spend another vacation there. Every room has an ocean view and the rooms are all very clean and spacious. The people who take care of the up-keep do a marvelous job and are all friendly and capable. There are many good restaurants nearby. All in all, our friends and we enjoyed this whole experience very much.

Wonderful and relaxing

★★★★★
Location, location, location! This is the perfect beach for views, walking, swimming, and snorkeling. The home is immaculate, comfortable and safe. The pool is perfect for cooling off and the owners respond immediately to any problem. Two small concerns: the walkway for beach access is right next to home and although there are shrubs it would be nice if they were more dense for privacy. Also the internet is on the slow side. We wanted to watch the Olympics which were not on tv but the service was too slow to stream. However, these were minor issues compared to the joys of our 2 weeks. We do recommend using taxies, it is much cheaper and less nerve wracking then driving. We did rent a car but will not do it again. Manzanillo is so much better than the crowded resorts. Thank you, Jess. Jim and bonnie

WOW, simply the best!

★★★★★
We looked on VRBO for a rental property in manzanillo and to our great surprise we found Casa de la Paloma in the beautiful Club Santiago area in Mexico. This house was beautiful, clean and very well stocked. We have 3 kids and each child had their own room. The doors to the family room and dining room open wide so there is so much space for indoor and outdoor living. Living on the beach was lovely. We enjoyed the early morning fishermen coming in with their catch, the local sellers (silver, coconut, mango, baked good, ice cream, clothing, etc) & we had Sam the local cowboy come right to the house for several horseback rides. Yolanda (the maid) came daily. The only thing I'd be concerned with is families with young kids. All the rooms open to the outside so they need to be individually locked. We can't wait to come back to Casa de la Paloma.

Perfect place - right on the beach.

★★★★★
We loved our stay here. We loved that we were right on the beach but also had the pool that the kids did not get out of unless the bracelet or ice cream vendors were going by. The house was stocked with everything that you could need and more. Very convenient to just walk down to the Oasis for a meal and a drink. Jesse and Eduardo were great at communicating and they even arranged airport pick up for us. We seriously never wanted to leave!! The house was clean and the housekeeper was lovely and made our lives so much easier for 2 weeks. If we ever come back to Manzanillo we will definitely stay here again!!

Awesome!

★★★★★
Imagine being in the Pacific Ocean yet waking-up to the sun rising from the sea in the most spectacular way! Imagine trying to cook breakfast, lunch or dinner when you can’t take your sight away from palm trees and a pristine ocean right at your doorstep!! Imagine living in a dream-world yet feeling you've come back home!!! If you can imagine all this you've arrived at Casa de la Paloma, where the Mexican warmth and incomparable service of the house’s staff will make you feel that this is the place where you belong. To say that our vacation was awesome pales in comparison to what our memories and senses will recall until we return to this paradise, and for those who will read these thoughts with skepticism just wait till you’re there!! The Fe family wishes to thank the owners and staff of Casa de la Paloma for an unforgettable vacation, and we are looking forward to ongoing “AWESOME” in the year to come!! Sincerely, The Fe Family, British Columbia, Canada

Excellent place to relax and enjoy life

★★★★★
Casa de la Paloma is amazing. If you're looking for a spot to get away from everything, this is your place! There may be a lot to do (tours or adventures) but we can't comment on that. We just relaxed and watched/listened to the waves. And it was perfect. Our littles loved the pool. And the owners couldn't be more kind, helpful and informative. The one thing we did do other than just drink tequila and play in the pool and ocean with the kids (not in that order) is we did go see the sea turtle rescue. Which was tons of fun for us and the kids. Highly recommended.

Wonderful home on a beautiful beach

★★★★★
We stayed in this home for two weeks with three couples. It was everything we expected and more. Beautiful view from every room in the house. The palapa was a nice place to sit and watch the activity on busier beach days and the beach umbrella was only steps from the front of the house for the times we wanted to enjoy being on the beach. We didn't spend much time indoors, but the air conditioning in the bedrooms was nice to have at night. Joley came everyday and took very good care of the home and us. We did not have her shop or cook for us, as we enjoy doing those things, but it was wonderful to have her wash all of the dishes everyday. She speaks little to no English, and we are not very good at Spanish, so google translate was a big help in that department. Both owners called us to check in during our stay and address any needs we had. Having a driver pick us up at the airport was wonderful and we did not rent a car as taxi's are very inexpensive to get you to the store when needed. We walked the beach to restaurants, which is very easy. Our favorite is Oasis for dinner and the fishing village for lunch. We did walk to the Beach Club, right past Oasis for some breakfasts and lunches. We have already booked again for two weeks next year and would not hesitate to recommend this home to others.

Pool, Sun and Beach with Privacy

★★★★★
This house is perfect when traveling with multiple families. It has privacy for all with the bedrooms each having their own bathroom etc. There is plenty of room to gather as a group as well. We were able to hire Dani from Dani tours to arrange for transportation, meals cooked in and massages under the palapa. We can't wait to return.

Great family experience!

★★★★★
We travel to Manzanillo every year for the last 15 years and this was by far our best experience. The beach right outside of our door. Enjoying our breakfast in the morning while the kids are in the pool or playing on the beach was just perfect. The beach is among the nicest in Mexico and totally safe for kids since there are no big waves. Great staff. Nice house. Totally worth it!

Fantastic!

★★★★★
Casa de la Paloma Owners: Thanks once again for hosting us in 2017. As last year, we had a wonderful time at your home away from home. This time we had the complete family with us, including Grand Ma (84) and the younger brother. The home is wonderful, spacious and very open right onto the back patio/pool area. Dani and team did a great job picking us up promptly and taking us back to the airport and arrangements for cooks, massages and excursions around the area. The weather was fantastic, the ocean and pool exceptional. Oasis down the beach a couple of steps was also a great little find for dinner. The cases of corona and lot's of limes just was icing on the case as we either swam in the ocean, relaxed in the pool, rinsed and repeated multiple times a day. 10 days of R&R, can't wait to next year.

Excellente

★★★★★
We have stayed here several times over the years and just love the place. Jess and the team have made things for arriving, for staying and for leaving beyond simple. Just being able to get there and enjoy the house and the beach and the available cook(s) have made our time there relaxing and enjoyable that we easily forget we need to go back to reality. Thanks everyone for making it special.
